What Makes Hemp Saunas Unique?

Hemp and lime: Our saunas are crafted from hempcrete, a sustainable, nontoxic, and mould-resistant wall system made when combining hemp hurds with lime and water.

Carbon sequestering: Our saunas hempcrete walls can store Carbon dioxide in two ways. As the hemp plant grows it pull in CO2 and stores it. The hemp is harvested and locked away in the sauna at approximately 110kg CO2 per cubic metre. Once installed the hempcrete begins carbonation: where carbon dioxide from the atmosphere reacts with calcium hydroxide (lime) in the presence of moisture to form calcium carbonate. This process not only strengthens the material but also contributes to sequester carbon over time helping to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the building.
